Lake Tawakoni has a towboat in operation, run by H2O Boat Tow LLC, which also works Possum Kingdom, Lake Fork, Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Lake Livingston, Sabine Lake, Lake Ray Hubbard and Lake Lavon.

The company’s service area is the entire eastern side of Texas, from the Gulf coast to Arkansas — about 120 miles by road from any of its ports — and its crews travel to any lake in that area. As of 14 September 2026, BoatUS lists no TowBoatUS port for Lake Tawakoni; this is an operator serving the lake, not a port listing.
The water

Lake Tawakoni lies 15 miles southeast of Greenville, on Caddo Creek and the South Fork and Cowleech Fork of the Sabine River. It covers 37,879 acres, reaches a maximum depth of 70 feet, and was impounded in 1960.
Predominant fish species are striped and hybrid striped bass, white bass, catfish, crappie and largemouth bass — which is to say most of the boats out here are fishing boats, early and late, and most of the calls come at those hours. Lake facts as published by Texas Parks and Wildlife.

My boat broke down on Lake Tawakoni. Who can I call?
Call (844) 262-8869, any hour. Breakdown assistance covers engine, transmission, drive and electrical failures: what can be fixed out on the water is fixed there, and what cannot is towed in.
I ran out of gas. Can somebody bring fuel out?
Yes. Fuel is brought out to the boat on the water, at any hour, on (844) 262-8869. For a member, fuel delivery is a covered service and the member pays only for the fuel itself.
Dead battery, middle of the lake.
We run battery jump starts around the clock. If the jump start does not hold, the boat is towed to a repair facility instead.
I’m aground. Is that a tow or a salvage?
A soft ungrounding is a boat that is upright, undamaged, surrounded by water and freeable in about fifteen minutes with one boat and one line — that is towing work, and it is covered for members. Anything else is salvage, and the captain says which it is before a line goes on.
My boat sank. Who does recovery?
Salvage and recovery is our work too: divers, salvage pumps, lift bags and high-capacity dewatering pumps, with fuel-spill containment, photo documentation and condition reports for insurance files. Salvage is normally paid by the boat owner’s insurance, and we work directly with carriers and adjusters on authorization, scope and billing.

Where does the boat end up?
Your choice of destination: your trailer, your slip, or any marina, ramp or repair yard, including dock-to-dock tows to repair facilities.
Do I have to be a member?
No. Non-members are served at posted rates, quoted before the boat leaves the dock. Members’ covered services are paid 100% by BoatUS with no paperwork. A single non-member call typically runs $300 to $500, against about $130 a year for an Unlimited freshwater TowBoatUS membership
